Oh, I think we’ve all been there when we couldn’t resist a
certain thing even though we probably should have. Some of those things we do
on a daily basis like staying up late, eating late night snacks, stalking on
social media (you know what I’m talking about) and TV show marathons.
All of
these things make us feel guilty afterwards but we still do it. The thing is
that they are not as harmful as some of the other guilty pleasures that cost a
whole lot of money and mess with our budget.
A few days ago, I accompanied my mother to the cosmetics
store to help her find the right shade of lipsticks for her. Now, let me tell
you something. I had no intention of buying anything for me; my budget simply
didn’t allow it. In fact, I had strictly told myself that I will look the other
way if I found something I like.
If you think I kept that promise, you couldn’t be further
from what actually happened. I walked away from the store with two new
mascaras, a highlighter, lip liners, contouring kit, a new liquid foundation
(to be fair, the sales person was adamant that it was really good!

So, yeah. Buying new cosmetics even when I don’t need them
is my guilty pleasure. But the situation is far worse than you could imagine
because I don’t have just one guilty pleasure, I have several!
When I see a bookstore, my feet get a mind of their own and
before I know it, I’m standing in front of charmingly irresistible and
enchanting rows of books.
Really, can you blame me if I splurge a little?
There is a local bookstore I frequent often; Half-Price
Books. I can spend hours in there. They have new books, old books, and book
like things (haha) and I can’t get enough. At least they are half-off and I do
read them ALL so it could be worse.
The story doesn’t end there because I’m also a stickler of
buying new gadgets. Really, it’s not my fault that Apple launches a new iPhone
every few months. Now, iPhone 7 is out and it has really cool new features
which make it all the more irresistible to me.
Now, I know what you are thinking. How on earth can I afford
these things while still being able to pay the bills? I find myself asking the
same question all the time! The kind of guilty pleasure I have cost a great
deal of money and no matter how much guilt I feel after splurging on them, it
still doesn’t stop me.
So, the only choice I have is to find a way to manage my
bills somehow and get control over my guilty pleasures. What are your guilty pleasures?
